Grab N’ Go Event in Philadelphia, PA (May 21st, 2024)

September 28, 2024

On May 18, 2024, the Disabled Veterans National Foundation (DVNF) hosted a heartwarming Grab N’ Go event at the Philadelphia VA Medical Center. This impactful event brought essential resources, practical support, and compassion directly to hundreds of disabled and at-risk veterans in the Philadelphia area.

With the help of our supporters, dedicated volunteers, and partners, veterans received critical items to meet their daily needs. From hygiene essentials to warm meals, this event was a testament to the power of community and generosity.

Essential Support for Our Nation’s Heroes

At DVNF, we know that small acts of kindness can make a big impact. The Grab N’ Go event was designed to provide tangible support to veterans facing difficult challenges. Here’s what was distributed to veterans at the event:

  • Health & Comfort Kits filled with hygiene essentials and personal care items.
  • Socks and T-shirts to provide comfort, warmth, and dignity.
  • Reusable water bottles to ensure veterans have access to hydration on the go.
  • Gift cards to help veterans with basic needs and essential purchases.
  • Hot lunches so no veteran left the event hungry.

These items are more than just supplies — they’re symbols of care, respect, and acknowledgment of the sacrifices veterans have made. With every item handed out, veterans were reminded that they are seen, valued, and supported.

Why Grab N’ Go Events Matter

For veterans who are struggling, finding the right support isn’t always easy. That’s why DVNF’s Grab N’ Go events bring essential support directly to them. By hosting events at VA Medical Centers and community locations, we ensure that veterans can access the items and resources they need most.

Events like this aren’t just about giving out kits and food — they’re about creating an environment of dignity, compassion, and community. Veterans attending the event were met with kindness, respect, and the reassurance that they are not alone.

What’s Next for DVNF?

The Philadelphia Grab N’ Go event is one of many ways DVNF supports veterans throughout the year. Our next Grab N’ Go will take place on October 18th in New Orleans, LA. In addition to these events, we provide assistance through a variety of programs tailored to meet veterans’ most urgent needs, including:

  • Veterans Food Assistance Program (VFAP) — Direct grocery deliveries sent to veterans’ homes.
  • Grants to Provide Stability (GPS) — One-time grants to help veterans cover essential bills like rent, utilities, and mortgage payments.
  • Homeless to Housing Program — Financial support to help homeless veterans secure stable housing.
  • Health & Comfort Program — Health & Comfort Kits provided to veterans through partner organizations, resource fairs, and community events.
  • Mission Possible Online Course — Mental wellness resources to support veterans in building resilience and improving their well-being.

Each of these programs addresses a specific need, ensuring that veterans receive comprehensive, timely support. Our commitment doesn’t stop at Grab N’ Go events — it continues all year long
